Olin and Rebecca grew up in a small farm and ranching community in Central Montana, where riding and training horses was a shared passion in both of their families.

During high school, Olin spent much of his time team roping across Montana. When he wasn't in the arena, he was working on various ranches, often on horseback, handling cattle and gaining valuable experience. He later competed in team roping at the collegiate level.

Rebecca devoted most of her youth to riding and participating in the Montana 4-H horse program. Through this program, she trained several colts and competed in both the Montana Quarter Horse Association show circuit and open horse shows. In high school, she represented Montana twice at the National 4-H Horse Judging Competition and later coached several youth teams—one of which also qualified for Nationals.

Olin and Rebecca have many fond memories of training, roping, riding, and showing horses during their youth. Since relocating to Alaska, they haven’t had many opportunities to engage in that lifestyle—until now. Becoming the owners of Bar J Equestrian has allowed them to return to their roots and re-immerse themselves in the horse world. They’re thrilled to rekindle their lifelong passion and begin this exciting new chapter.

Olin and Rebecca hope to share their past knowledge of the horsemanship skills we learned growing up as well as developing new skills and merging into an ever-changing equine world.
